Our current project at
NJ Custom Tile is a tile fountain. yes, an outside Spanish style fountain.
First the masonry blocks needed to be waterproofed. We used
Tec Hydraflex waterproofing and crack isolation membrane. 3 coats were applied with a brush and roller.
Standing 4 1/2' tall and 17' long. We tiled the entire standing face of the fountain with
Seneca clay 4x4 tiles, on a diagonal. The basin was tile in a brick pattern.
Tec Superflex and 3N1 thin-set were used.
Before grouting it is highly recommended to seal the tile. We applied 2 coats
Stonetech professional heavy-duty exterior sealer.
Grout used was Clay sanded. We mixed grout with 100%
Tec grout additive. Grout must be mixed with this in freeze thaw applications.
